My dog's a vegetarian

And her kibble is vegan. I've been slowly transitioning her off of meat based kibble and she's doing great! She still scarfs it down, loves the taste, and has tons of energy. And I have veggie treats that I've always given her. And her, um, business is just fine also.

This is the food she eats:

And these are the treats:

I add a few carrots and veggies and kitchen droppings in the mix now and then, and she's good to go! One happy pup.

  1. Awww... she's so adorable! And I'm glad to hear that she's doing well on a vegan diet.

Even though I can't have a dog in my apartment, I've been curious about vegan pets since going vegan myself a year or so ago... nice post!

  2. I'm still ambivalent about veganism in pets. While I understand dogs are omnivores like humans and so can adapt more easily to the diet, I am a cat person and would not feel confident feeding it to a cat, as they are natural carnivores.

I've heard some anecdotes from people who say their cat loves it, but I think every cat is different, and if a cat doesn't take naturally to the food and enjoy it, I don't think they should be forced.
